We recently announced our Charity Partnership with Yorkshire Cancer Research. To start our journey, we are joining other companies and supporters on Yorkshire Day to help give cancer the boot by wearing our wellies to work.
The trufe. team can’t wait to get stuck in, with each of us donating to Yorkshire Cancer Research and getting our friends and family to do the same. We will be plodding around the office and no doubt jumping in a few puddles to encourage donations for the charity.
Yorkshire Charity. Yorkshire Day.
Being a Yorkshire business, supporting a Yorkshire Charity on Yorkshire Day, we will also be celebrating everything great about the region.
If nothing else, it may help make someone think about the cause and the continued importance of raising awareness, particularly as 38% of cancer cases are preventable (Cancer Research UK 2015).
All funds raised for Yorkshire Cancer Research will be spent on vital research projects in Yorkshire. People in Yorkshire are more likely to develop and die from cancer than people living in most other places in the country. In 2016 alone, more than 30,000 people living in the region were told they had cancer.
“The money raised will help more people in Yorkshire survive cancer by tackling five key areas; prevention, take-up of screening programmes, early diagnosis, improved treatment and bringing more clinical trials to Yorkshire.
“So far, we’ve invested £40m in ongoing trials and projects, but there’s still a way to go. We’re really hoping that the proud people of Yorkshire pull on their wellies for this important cause!”
Dr Kathryn Scott, Chief Executive at Yorkshire Cancer Research
We will soon be adding some photos of the team and anyone else we can rope into the campaign.
